Dawn breaks… the first birds herald the new day. Joggers and dog walkers emerge on to the grass, solitary or in chatty pairs. Convivial clusters form. Babies are strolled, neighbours natter, the kids run and shriek. Sunshine warms the grass and you can smell the soil. A lapwing plucks a worm. Teens sprawl indulgently and dogs fossick in the outfield.
Over the course of one day in October 2021, Media student Izzy Ryan filmed our local community doing nothing in particular on Bob Campbell Oval.
Bob Campbell Oval, or Gore Creek Reserve, is a little slice of heaven on Sydney Harbour. It sits at the bottom of a creek that winds up through Lane Cove and is one of the last remaining natural creeks on the harbour.
